Boost Your Donation by 25% – Gift Aid

If you’re a UK taxpayer and you donate to Bavs — whether that’s money or goods to our shops — you could be helping us raise even more, simply by saying yes to Gift Aid.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid is a government scheme that allows charities to reclaim the basic rate of tax on donations made by UK taxpayers. For every £1 you donate, we can claim an extra 25p from HMRC — at absolutely no extra cost to you.

So a £10 donation becomes £12.50. A £50 donation becomes £62.50. It all adds up.

Does it apply to shop donations too?

Yes! If you donate items to our charity shops and you’re a UK taxpayer, you can sign up for our Gift Aid on donated goods scheme. We’ll tag your donations and, when they sell, we’ll claim Gift Aid on the sale price. It’s one of the most effective ways to maximise the value of every item you donate.

How do I sign up?

Simply speak to a member of staff in any of our shops or at the Reuse Hub and we’ll get you set up. It takes just a couple of minutes and makes a real difference.

Am I eligible?

You’re eligible for Gift Aid if you’re a UK taxpayer and the amount of income tax and/or capital gains tax you pay is at least equal to the amount Bavs will claim on your donations in the tax year.

If your tax situation changes, please let us know — it’s important that we only claim Gift Aid when you’re eligible.

If you have any questions about Gift Aid, don’t hesitate to get in touch — we’re always happy to help.
