Who we are — and what we stand for

We are Bavs — formerly the Berwickshire Association for Voluntary Service. Established in 1971, we're an independent voluntary organisation with a simple but powerful mission: to support the Berwickshire community to thrive.

Over more than 50 years, Bavs has evolved alongside the needs of the communities we serve. Today we operate three charity shops across Berwickshire and the Bavs Reuse Hub in Chirnside, while continuing to support volunteering, community projects, and partnerships that make a real difference to people's lives.

We offer pre-loved goods at affordable prices, creating responsible consumerism while supporting those affected by poverty. And through volunteering and upskilling, we work to reduce social isolation, build community resilience, and help Berwickshire flourish.
